In this research the story of Solomon (pbuh), one of the well-known religious stories in the world that has also been narrated in Tarjomeh-ye Tafsir-e-Tabari (Persian translation of Tabari’s commentary of Quran) is analyzed and evaluated based on Propp’s morphology of the Folktale. The number of characters and their functions in this story are in accordance with the framework and notes of Propp’s model, and all of the three movements of the story have displayed the patterns suggested as the first of the sextet movement patterns of this model. Since Propp’s theory has been organized by studying the structures of the Russian fairy tales and pays less attention to cumulative embellishments in the tales, it is proved to be useful in studying Quranic stories. The events happened in Solomon (pbuh) story, are too similar to fairy tale events and based on that the author came to the conclusion that there is historical intertextual relationship between them. Mystical literature has always been accompanied by secrets and mysteries; and understanding the concepts, interpretations, terms and themes mentioned in mystical poems and proses such as theological themes has never been easy since they are mixed with special symbols and allegories. The elements of mystical literature, though not that complicated, bring up deep questions in mind, for which finding the answers requires true understanding of mystical, religious and theological insights of the authors. Attar is one of those mystic poets who has incorporated his beliefs and religious attitudes with a mystical virtue in all his works. Using a descriptive-analytical method, assuming that Attar’s mystical thoughts are incorporated with his theological thoughts, this paper tries to investigate the effects of different theological schools on the intellectual and mystic basis of monotheism (Tawhid) theme in Attar’s works with respect to his well-known four Masnavi books. The results show that the influence of theological issues on these works is too much that any account of Attar’s works without learning about his theological insights would be incomplete. However, it would be useless to insist on assigning him to one specific theological school. Manuscript profile

Abdolghaher Jorjani is one of the well known rhetoricians and syntacticians of fifth century who is best known for his “construction theory” and “the meaning of meaning”. Two of his great books named Asrar al-balaghah and Dala'il al-I'jaz explain aesthetic issues of the discourse. What he has expressed about these imageries can also be useful for studying other literary devices. Although he has referred to simile, allegory, metaphor, and metonymy to explain the effective elements of aesthetics, the method he has used to analyze the aesthetic value of the text, and the effective factors he presented for aesthetic analysis of the imageries can also be useful in studying other figures of speech. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, and according to Jorjani’s views, this study aims at analyzing the function of contradiction and conflict in the aesthetic analysis of Attar’s sonnets. This study attempts to show that what Jorjani had considered to be important aesthetic factors can be found in different representations of the elements of contradiction and conflict (e.g. antonyms, different types of paradox, etc.). Based on the findings, contradiction is one of the effective elements of literariness of the text. Manuscript profile

By studying different periods of the history of mysticism, one can find some deviations which caused the strong objection of some great mystics. One of these deviations which remained till the present time, is the theory of ‘escaping from the duties’ and ‘voidance of Shariah’. Shariah is one of the key words in all mystic texts and a gauge for identifying the right path from the wrong one in mysticism. Kashf- ol-Mahjub which is one of the important Persian mystic books and one of the important and valuable works of the fifth century (Hijri) which also considered to be among the first noteworthy sources according to scholars, has paid special attention to this topic. Therefore, it has been chosen for this study. In this article a descriptive- analytical research method based on some evidence from Hojviri’s Kashf-ol-Mahjub is used. According to this book, Shariah is not just some religious and jurisprudential duties, but in a broader sense it includes all the practical knowledge and teachings. On the contrary to distorted and ‘anti Shariah or irreligious interpretations, in none of the stages of spiritual journey you can escape from Shariah since there is no difference between Shariah and the absolute Truth. Hojviri’s reason in accepting or rejecting any issue is in concordance with principles of Shariah. According to Hojviri Shariah is a criteria for identifying the Leader, dignity, etc. Furthermore, he believes that the principles of Shariah, Quran, Sunnah and Ejma, and also wisdom confirm Shariah. One aspect of studying the language of poetry is the analysis of the choices of words used in the poetry. By studying the reasons of the choice of words, you can learn about issues related to the poet’s inside and outside world, things which are hidden in the words used in the poems. Poet’s Characteristics and moods as the most important factors in the word choice make the words carry meaning beyond their main and primary meanings which is known as the secondary or implicit meaning. Secondary meaning, show the poet's feelings towards other phenomena and is communicated through some words in the poems. Nizami Ganjavi is one of those poets who not only paid attention to verbal aesthetics which makes his words more powerful, but also tried to express his emotions, feelings, thoughts, worldview and opinions. Therefore, the linguistic study of his works is an appropriate way to gain better understanding of his thoughts and feelings. By exploring the domain of highly applied vocabulary with implicit meanings, and analyzing their significance in Nizami’s Khamse we have tried to demonstrate the features related to his worldview, and his spiritual tendencies. The words analyzed in this article based on their frequencies are as follows: "Blood", "shadow", "key", "light" and "love". Sometimes the implicit meanings of the words will be reinforced because of proximity to other words in the context. The findings of this study also show the effects of the adversity and violence of the turbulent time the poet lived in, and also it shows how he searched in order to achieve security and peace and tried to deal with problems. Takhallos (transition verse) in ode (qasideh) refers to the transition from introduction (Tashbib, Nasib) to the body of the text (praise). Transition verse is an important part of the ode, and its literary function in rhetorics is called skillful transition verse or ‘hosen- e-takhallos’. Poets were aware of its importance, and have used various literary methods when they wanted to move from introduction to praising. In this research the poems of some prominent poets in 5th and 6th century like Farrokhi Sistani, Onsori, Manuchehri, and Anvari will be studied thoroughly first, and considering other poems of the other prominent poets different methods they used to connect introduction to the praise. Furthermore, criteria for transition verse criticism will be studied in the books of rhetoric to find out the rhetoricians’ views about this issue. The results of this research which was done using a descriptive-analytical approach showed that rhetoricians paid attention to the praised dignity, the poet’s self-respect, and the rhetoric in their critiques about the transition verse. This study shows literary critics pay attention to praised position, poets’ magnanimity and poetry coherence. The most important methods for transition-verse are literary images and narrative possibilities. The most important methods for Takhallos consist of figures of speech like simile, euphemism, and narrative tool, especially creating the setting. It is also revealed that the theme of the introduction plays role in the quality of the transition verse, for example in the odes which start with complaint the transition verse is not that interesting and usually has changed into demand and request. According to the ancient sources, Tankalucha manuscript is one of the oldest works related to astronomy which has been written in Sassanid era based on Iranian astronomy and stories of the time it was written. According to astronomical literature, after being written in middle Persian (Pahlavi), Tankalucha has been translated into Syriac and later into Arabic in Islamic era. This work has been an information resource for the large number of other works related to astrological literature. Although, there is no evidence of its Syriac translation, there are some manuscripts of its Arabic and Farsi translations, and Tankalucha 1074 H.A. is one of its Farsi translations. Tankalucha 1074 A.H. was rewritten by “Mohammad Taghi-ibn-e-Haji Mohammad Mashadi” in Nastaliq by the command of the king. Subject of the manuscript is foretelling and explanation of the fortune in 360 degrees in ecliptic circle. The unique characteristic of the manuscript which makes it different from the former and latter manuscripts is its motifs. In fact the motifs are visual interpretations of the foretelling texts. No significant difference is observed in any of the other manuscripts except for “the style of calligraphy” and “the date of writing”. This article has two goals. First, it answers the question that whether Tankalucha 1074 A.H. was the only manuscript containing motifs. According to the description of the illustrated Tankalucha in the poems of the two poets of the 6th (hijri) (Khaqani and Nizami) illustrated Tankalucha (11th century) goes back to 6th century, and this rejects its uniqueness. On the other hand, in historical resources, Tankalucha goes back to pre-Islam era. The main goal of this article is learning about the history of the book, and finding the answer to the question that Tankalucha expresses the beliefs of which group of people. According to some external old resources and focusing on some of the elements in Tankalucha 1074 A.H. text, and its representation in motifs lead us to Citation to the beliefs of Sabian religion.
