Needs that, if left unmet, can lead to destructive anxiety. Contemporary philosopher Alain de Botton categorizes these anxieties as "dignity anxiety" and describes the causes and ways to deal with them. The idea put forward by Alain de Botton, was soon noticed by the authors, and numerous works in various artistic formats were created on this subject. Alireza Seif al-Dini's novel "Ketab-e Kham (Book of Bending)" is one of these works in which the author deals with the tumultuous life of a man who steps on his ideals in order to overcome the anxiety of dignity and to be recognized as a powerful husband and father. The present study, which has been written with a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to analyze the regressive process of his life while describing the backgrounds of the mentioned anxiety in the main character of the story. The results show that factors such as the importance of well-being and material development, changing the criteria for valuing poverty and wealth and the effectiveness of the offspring, along with fear of looking weak by the spouse and fear of not fulfilling paternal duties properly, cause anxiety in the person. The anxiety that the mentioned character seeks a way out of by paying attention to philosophy, art, the religious doctrine of death and the bohemian lifestyle. نياز به ديده‌شدن، تأييدشدن و شناخته‌شدن به‌عنوان انساني موفق، از جمله نيازهاي نوظهوراند كه متأثر از پيشرفت‌هاي مادي و تكنولوژيک در عصر‌ مدرن پديدار شده‌اند؛ نيازهايي كه در صورت برآورده‌نشدن، فرد را دچار اضطراب‌هاي ويران‌كننده مي‌کنند. آلن دوباتن، فيلسوف سرشناس معاصر، ضمن دسته‌بندي اين تشويش‌ها ذيل عنوان «اضطراب منزلت»، به تشريح عوامل و راه‌هاي مقابله با آن پرداخته است. ايدة طرح‌شده از سوي دوباتن، كه خود از زمرة‌ پديدآورندگان آثار داستاني است، به‌زودي از سوي نويسندگان مورد توجه واقع شد و آثار متعددي در قالب‌هاي مختلف هنري با اين موضوع خلق گرديد. رمان «كتاب خَم» از عليرضا سيف‌الديني يكي از نمونه‌هاي متمايز اين آثار است كه نويسنده طي آن به زندگي پرفرازونشيب مردي پرداخته كه در راستاي غلبه بر اضطراب منزلت و شناخته‌شدن به‌عنوان همسر و پدري قدرتمند، يا به تعبير متن «اسم‌ورسم‌دار»، دچار سيري قهقرايي مي‌شود و پا بر سر آرمان‌هاي خود مي‌گذارد. پژوهش حاضر كه با روش توصيفي ـ تحليلي به نگارش درآمده، در پي آن است تا ضمن توصيف زمينه‌هاي ايجاد اضطراب يادشده در شخصيت اصلي داستان، روند قهقرايي زندگي او را تحليل نمايد. نتايج نشان مي‌دهد عواملي همچون اهميت‌يافتن رفاه و پيشرفت مادي، تغيير معيارهاي ذهني ارزش‌گذاري فقر و غنا و اثرپذيري از القائات جمعيت «اسناب»‌ها، عواملي‌اند كه در كنار ترس از ضعيف به‌نظررسيدن در چشم همسر و هراس از ناتوانی در ايفاي مناسب وظايف پدري، باعث ايجاد اضطراب منزلت در شخصيت اصلي شده‌اند؛ اضطرابي كه شخصيت يادشده راه رهايي از آن را در توجه به فلسفه، هنر، آموزة مذهبي مرگ و سبك زندگي بوهميايي جست‌وجو مي‌كند. http://literature.ihss.ac.ir/fa/Article/Download/33273
