These words have been dealt with in different dictionaries as the case may be. Oxford Etymoloical dictionary, known as one of the most reliable English language expertise etymology dictionary, has dealt with some of the Farsi words entered into English. The important point is that some of the Farsi words entered into Arabic language and changed into Arabicized have been regarded as the Arabic words in etymology. Today those referr to Oxford dictionary think that these words are Arabic. As the article will show, this is not correct. 38000 words have been studied in this research and some 90 words with Farsi origin and some 160 words with Arabic origin have been introduced. Studying the words regarded as the Arabic scattered throughout this survey will show that 20 of the words regarded as the Arabic ones are Farsi. To approve this claim, 10 words of the group have been studied in analytic-descriptive way. واژگان زبان فارسي در كنار واژگان بسياري از زبان‌هاي ديگردر ادوار مختلف به روش‌هاي متنوع و يا دلايل گوناگون به حوزه زبان انگليسي وارد شده‌اند و در فرهنگ‌هاي واژگان يا لغت نامه‌هاي مختلف به فراخور دامنه واژگان، به آنها نيز پرداخته شده است. فرهنگ ريشه‌شناختي آكسفورد كه به عنوان يكي از معتبرترين فرهنگ‌هاي اختصاصي ريشه‌شناسي زبان انگليسي شناخته مي‌شود، به برخي از واژگان دخيل از زبان فارسي نيز پرداخته است. در اين فرهنگ، تعدادي از واژگان فارسي كه به عربي رفته، صورتي معرب يافته‌اند و سپس به زبان انگليسي وارد شده‌اند، به اشتباه به عنوان واژه عربي ريشه‌يابي شده‌اند. امروزه مراجعه كنندگان به اين فرهنگ معتبر واژگاني، تحت تأثير معرفي نادرست ريشه اين واژگان در اين فرهنگ معتبر چنين مي‌پندارندكه اين دسته از واژگان در اصل عربي بوده‌اند، در حالي كه مقاله حاضر نشان خواهد داد كه اين تلقي از ريشه‌شناسي اين گونه واژگان درست نيست. در انجام این تحقیق مجموعه سی و هشت هزار واژه فرهنگ مذکور بررسی شده و مجموعاً حدود نود واژه باریشه فارسی و حدود یکصد و شصت واژه با ریشه عربی معرفی شده است. با بررسی واژگانی که در این فرهنگ به عنوان واژگانی با ریشه عربی معرفی شده‌اند در می‌یابیم که حدود بیست واژه از این مجموعه نه واژگانی با ریشه عربی که واژگانی معرب با ریشه فارسی‌اند. برای تایید این ادعا، ده فقره از این واژگان به شیوه تحلیلی ـ توصیفی بررسی شده‌اند. http://literature.ihss.ac.ir/en/Article/Download/10160
