Dividing Ibn ʿArabī’s life into twelve journeys, the novel simultaneously adheres to the traditional framework of Sufi path-seeking while portraying the inner stages of his spiritual, psychological, and intellectual transformations. This article examines these twelve journeys through the lens of Carol Pearson’s theory of the hero’s archetypal journey. The findings reveal that the hero’s journey is not only successfully reconstructed in the novel but also that the sequence of Ibn ʿArabī’s inner transformations aligns with Pearson’s twelve archetypes. These archetypes, from the “Innocent” to the “Ruler,” manifest in the narrative as stages of Ibn ʿArabī’s inner quest toward the doctrine of waḥdat al-wujūd (Unity of Being), the discovery of truth, and the flourishing of the self. The deep interweaving of mystical and mythological elements in the narrative grants Ibn ʿArabī an archetypal and mythical aura, prompting the contemporary reader to reconsider the meaning of the hero, the spiritual journey, and character transformation within the framework of Islamic mysticism</p> <p>رمان الموت الصغیر نوشتۀ محمدحسن علوان، نویسندۀ سعودی وبرندۀ جایزۀ بوکر عربی، بازخوانیِ نوآورانه&zwnj;ای از زندگی و سیر و سلوک عرفانی ابن عربی در قالب روایت اول&zwnj;شخص و ساختار داستانی است. این رمان عربی با تقسیم زندگی ابن عربی به دوازده سفر، از یک&zwnj;سو به ساختار سنّتی سلوک عارفان پایبند مانده، و از سوی دیگر، با طرح مراحل درونی این سفرها، به بازنمایی تحولات روحی، روانی و معرفتی او می&zwnj;پردازد. هدف این مقاله، بررسی این سفرهای دوازده&zwnj;گانه با تکیه بر نظریۀ کهن&zwnj;الگوهای سفر قهرمان از دیدگاه کارول پیرسون است. بر اساس یافته&zwnj;های پژوهش، الگوی سفر قهرمان در این رمان نه&zwnj;تنها به&zwnj;خوبی بازآفرینی شده، بلکه ترتیب دگرگونی&zwnj;های درونی شخصیت نیز با ترتیب کهن&zwnj;الگوهای پیرسون همخوانی دارد. دوازده کهن&zwnj;الگوی اصلی از «معصوم» تا «حاکم»، در امتداد این روایت، تجلی سفر درونی ابن عربی به سوی وحدت وجود، کشف حقیقت و شکوفایی خویشتن&zwnj;اند. پیوند عمیق میان عناصر عرفانی و اسطوره&zwnj;ای در روایت، به شخصیت ابن عربی جلوه&zwnj;ای اسطوره&zwnj;وار بخشیده که مخاطب معاصر را به تأملی دوباره در مفهوم قهرمان، سفر روحانی و تحول شخصیت در بستر عرفان اسلامی وا می دارد .</p>
