Some believe that quatrain can be traced to the pre-Islamic form of poetry known as Khusrovani, others relate it to Sufis. In this paper, the authors believe that such arguments will never lead to a defensible result. So the issue needs to be viewed from another perspective. To do so, using Lucien Goldman’s theory of Genetic Structuralism, according to which there is a homologous relationship between the inherent structure of literary works and the key structures of the social context of the author, they have tried to show how quatrain is the reflection of rationalistic worldview of the rationalist poets of the Khurasani school of poetry rather than the evolution of Iranians pre-Islamic poetry. رباعي قالب شعري‌اي است كه نخست در ميان شاعران ايراني رواج يافته، سپس به شعر عرب راه پيدا كرده است؛ امّا با وجود آنكه عدّه‌اي چون شمس قيس رازي رباعي را ساختة رودكي مي‌دانند، به دليل عدم وجود اسناد كافي، دربارة اينكه مبدع آن چه كسي است، اتّفاق نظري وجود ندارد؛ تا جايي كه گروهي معتقدند كه رباعي ريشه در خسرواني‌هاي پيش از اسلام داشته است و برخي نيز نخستين رباعي‌ها را به صوفيه منسوب كرده‌اند. در اين مقاله نويسندگان با اعتقاد به اينكه چنين پژوهش‌هايي نتيجة متقني نخواهد داشت، اين موضوع را از منظري ديگر نگريسته، تلاش كرده‌اند تا با استفاده از نظرية ساختارگرايي تكويني لوسين گلدمن ـ كه ميان شكل اثر و جهان‌نگري حاكم بر عصري كه اثر در آن شكل گرفته است، ارتباط برقرار مي‌كند ـ نشان دهند كه چگونه قالب رباعي ـ البتّه در معناي مصطلح و امروزي آن ـ كه از ساختاري منطقي برخوردار است، انعكاس جهان‌نگري عقلاني شاعران خردگراي سبك خراساني است، نه شکل تکامل يافتة شعر ايران پيش از اسلام. http://literature.ihss.ac.ir/fa/Article/Download/10059
